This is Banko-yaki. Banko-yaki is a type of pottery produced mainly in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture. It originated in the middle of the Edo period (1603-1868) and was named after the wish that the work would remain forever. "Ban” means "everything. "KO” means months and days gone by. In addition to bonsai pots, it is also resistant to fire, such as kyusu (teapots) and earthenware pots.
