🌸 Japanese Culture Trivia: The Art of Outdoor Dining
Did you know that outdoor dining is a deeply rooted cultural tradition in Japan? For centuries, during events like "Hanami" (cherry blossom viewing) or "Nodate" (open-air tea ceremonies), aristocrats and samurai would carry elaborately decorated Jubako (tiered boxes) filled with seasonal foods to enjoy under the trees. The philosophy is simple: food tastes infinitely better when surrounded by nature. By bringing authentic Japanese ceramics to your backyard BBQ or picnic, you are partaking in a centuries-old tradition of elegant outdoor feasting.

A Final Thought from Our Staff:
Recently, an automatic translation feature was added to X (formerly Twitter), and it has been absolutely amazing to see the lively cultural exchange between Japanese and North American users—especially regarding food! Many Japanese people are looking at American backyard BBQ culture with deep admiration and envy. I have been loving these posts, making my time on X even more fascinating.
Actually, it reminds me of a slightly bittersweet memory. When I was 14 years old, I had the wonderful opportunity to study abroad in Australia. However, I have one lingering regret from that time: I never had the chance to enjoy a proper outdoor BBQ party. It was truly disappointing.
Seeing all these amazing American BBQ posts recently has reawakened that unfulfilled childhood dream. So, I have to ask... would anyone out there invite me to their next backyard BBQ party? 😉
Until then, I hope these beautiful Japanese ceramics bring as much joy, warmth, and elegance to your outdoor gatherings as they do to ours. Let's make every meal an event to remember. Discover more at COTOWAKU.
