This is Shigaraki ware. Shigaraki ware is a pottery produced mainly in the area around Koga County, Shiga Prefecture. Shigaraki ware excels at large ceramics, and in the past, hibachi (brazier) pots were often made. In modern times, flowerpots, vases, and washbasins are also produced in large quantities. Shigaraki ware is also famous throughout Japan and the world for its raccoon dog figurines.
