Naginowa Shigaraki Ware Black Shore Donburi Bowl
This is a Shigaraki ware rice bowl.
It has a very distinctive white, brush-rubbed pattern on a black background.
Although it may appear to have a matte texture, the glaze is applied firmly, and the smooth surface characteristic of tableware can be enjoyed.
The shape of the bowl is also standard, so it is recommended not only for rice dishes such as katsu-don (pork cutlet bowl) and oyakodon (chicken and egg bowl), but also for noodle dishes such as ramen and soba noodles.
Since each bowl is handmade one by one, there may be differences in appearance and texture from product to product. Please understand this beforehand.
This is Shigaraki ware. Shigaraki ware is a pottery produced mainly in the area around Koga County, Shiga Prefecture. Shigaraki is good at making large ceramics, and in the past, hibachi (brazier) was often made. In modern times, flowerpots, vases, and washbasins are also widely produced. Shigaraki ware is also famous throughout Japan and the world for its raccoon dog figurines.
